19-Jul-2001A Hyderabad civil court today adjourned to August 2 the hearing of themain petition of former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin,challenging the life ban imposed on him by the Cricket Board.The second additional chief judge of city civil court J ShyamSunder Rao posted the hearing to the next date in view of the interimstay granted by the High Court on further proceedings of the case,based on a revision petition filed by BCCI in the High Courtyesterday.Justice Sudarshan Reddy of AP High Court granted interim stay onfurther proceedings of the main petition filed by Azharuddin after thelower court rejected a BCCI plea for more time to file a writtenstatement on the match fixing scandal.BCCI also filed an interlocutary petition in the lower courtbefore J Shyam Sunder Rao seeking the striking down of certainaverments in Azhar’s main petition and sought more time to file thewritten statement but the lower court insisted on filing the statementby July 19. Aggrieved by the lower court, BCCI filed the revisionpetition for an interim order.
